Canada, through the
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), is a leading donor to health funding in the developing world. Canada's commitments include support to
global health partnerships and multilateral institutions such as
Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria,
Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisations,
Stop TB Partnership,
World Health Organisation,
International AIDS Vaccine Initiative,
International Partnership for Microbicides,
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)CIDA is also engaged in a number of large bilateral and regional programs in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and partnerships with national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
In the fiscal year 2004-05, CIDA disbursed a total of $878.6 million (CND) for programming in the health
